Fun Weekend
On Saturday we took the kids to the circus. At first they found it loud and too close from our second row seats. So, we moved up higher to some empty seats, and they liked it better. But I think they had the most fun imitating the animals when they got home. Can't you just picture it?
Then on Sunday we all went to a "sure catch" fishing place in Morgan Hill. For $2.50 the kids can fish in a stocked, concrete pool, and we pay by the pound for what the kids catch. (The poles, bait and nets are included.) I'm not sure how many fishing pictures you want to see, so......... here are a bunch.
Snacks are a part of the fun for everyone.
Love those fishing chairs given to them by Grandma and Grandpa Willison.
It is always fun to bait hooks. ?!?
Feels like a big fish!
They shared in bringing it in.
Ready for the net!
Got him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It splashed around in the bucket.
Who wants to hold it?
OK, just touch it.
I think Ellie liked it the best. Aunt Jerry, did you hear that?
Katie, remember the picture of you fishing with pink ribbons?
Daniel knows why it is called a catfish. Ellie just thinks it is funny that I am holding it.
Question of the Day: On whose pole was the fish caught?
Larry's Birthday Cake
O.K. We all realize it is not a beach ball cake, or a Christmas train cake, or a sandcastle cake, but it is exactly what he asked for......a chocolate cake.
Daniel asked the question of the day: "How did the cake get cracked?"
Daniel put the nuts on top, Luke was in charge of candles. The first candle went in upside down. When asked how we would light that, he realized there was a problem and fixed it.
He then took it out, started again, and completed the task proudly.
It took extra help to put out the flames.
One person was simply not enough. It took three! If Ellie wasn't sick, they might have blown them out faster with four.
The result was melted frosting, melted candles, and a lot of fun.
Happy Birthday Larry!

Pictures of the Day
I thought you'd like to see the yellow ribbon hanging for Jeff on Main Street. Banners are hung for the "sons and daughters of Pleasanton who are serving in the military and are currently outside of the United States." How proud I am to see his name up there, yet at the same time can't wait for it to come down, as that would mean he is on US soil again. :-)
I wasn't really thrilled when I got an email telling me the banner had been hung in front of the Pleasanton Brewery. I didn't even know Pleasanton had a brewery! I looked it up on the internet and found that its ales are of the traditional brewing style of the British Isles. Ha. What a fun place to hang a banner for someone stationed in the British Isles.
We went to dinner at the pub last night. I now realize that I never knew the pub was there because I always looked at the Pleasanton Hotel when I drove by. So there is Jeff, on Main Street, across from the historic hotel, (the heart of Pleasanton), and right next to a place serving British style ales. How perfect.
Question of the day: The little shopping center with the brewery also contains a jewelry store. Do you think I should buy a piece of jewelry there and if so, when? :-)
Oh, by the way, most of the answers to the previous questions are posted in the "comments" sections. Thanks for all of your responses. I loved reading them.

While on Vacation.....
I thought you'd like to see what happened at the Kaiser Vacaville project while Larry was on vacation. Luckily, it was not his part of the job. Larry is building a hospital and someone else is building the Medical Office Building, on the same property. The Medical Office Building scaffolding collapsed during heavy winds. Nobody was hurt!
The question of the day: Why did this happen?
Scaffolding should be able to stay up on a windy day.
Note: Investigation is underway so it may be a while for the final answer.

Larry's Trip

While Larry Was Away
While Larry was fishing in Cabo, Lisa came to visit. We had a great time together, as always. But what really makes me laugh is the fact that while Larry was not here, Lisa and I watched baseball every night, and visited his construction site!! We also went to a movie which was a musical. Have I lost my mind?
To be honest, I recorded all the games for Larry, in case Barry Bonds broke the record while he was out of the country. But then we wanted to fast forward through them daily to see if he actually hit any home runs. That is the ONLY way to watch a game. :-) The question of the day is.... WHEN WILL BARRY BONDS BREAK THE RECORD SO I CAN STOP WATCHING GAMES???
Nina made a great dinner for us. I always enjoy my time when I visit them. This time we got to hear about Eric's recent 5 day back packing trip, where he caught over 50 fish. I played in the "tent" that Allan gave the kids, told stories, listened to their stories, went swimming, played hide 'n seek, played with the cars, hid the cars no less than 20 times, hunted for cars that Daniel and Luke hid, and..... after all that, Daniel said, "Grandma, will you play with me?"
