O.K. We all realize it is not a beach ball cake, or a Christmas train cake, or a sandcastle cake, but it is exactly what he asked for......a chocolate cake.
Daniel asked the question of the day: "How did the cake get cracked?"
Daniel put the nuts on top, Luke was in charge of candles. The first candle went in upside down. When asked how we would light that, he realized there was a problem and fixed it.
He then took it out, started again, and completed the task proudly.
It took extra help to put out the flames.
One person was simply not enough. It took three! If Ellie wasn't sick, they might have blown them out faster with four.
The result was melted frosting, melted candles, and a lot of fun.
Happy Birthday Larry!

I've decided to give some of the answers to the "Questions of the Day" in the comment section instantly. That way you can think about the question, and on some days, see the answer immediately. No guessing required, just a fun way to get you thinking.
In this case, I put the cake in the oven, and wanted to run to Walmart to pick up pictures for Nina before they arrived. Larry said he'd take the cake out when the buzzer went off. I got in my car, and thought I should mention to him that when he takes out the cake, to treat it gently or it could sink. I got out of the car, got to the door, and decided against that, thinking he may decided he didn't want to be responsible for taking the cake out after all.
When I returned, I saw the cake in its pathetic state. I asked what happened and he sheepishly said that as he took the cake out, he dropped it. He tried to catch it with his shoe before it hit the floor, and it banged against his leg and the cake fell out in pieces against his knee. He assembled the pieces the best he could in the pan. It makes me laugh just thinking about it. :-)
